Management
President
Daniel Hunter is a founding partner of HBMJ Consulting and is based in the New York City area. Hunter founded HBMJ following two years as a Project Manager at GlobeOp Financial Services, LLC. in New York. At GlobeOp, he was responsible for implementation and support of the Advent Geneva(R) Portfolio Accounting System and managed the conversion of clients onto the Geneva platform.
Prior to GlobeOp, Daniel served in a trading and accounting capacity at Rabar Market Research, a small White Plains, NY based hedge fund. Since founding HBMJ, he has worked with many of the largest and most complex Hedge Funds to design and deliver best practice back office processes and solutions which cater to all asset classes.
Daniel holds an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business and an undergraduate degree in finance from SUNY Binghamton.
Partner
Michael Berwa, is a partner at HBMJ Consulting, and has been in the Financial Services industry for over 10 years. His career started in the Front-office as an Options Specialist on the American Stock Exchange where he became an expert in exchange traded derivatives, risk analytics (Greeks), and FX.
As a trader he also managed the development effort to automate trades and execution timing through a variety of OMS systems. Throughout this experience he gained a working functional knowledge of the front, middle, and back-office daily operations, as well as reporting requirements from Accounting to Trading.
Currently at HBMJ, Michael has managed a wide variety of complex high volume implementations, conversions, and upgrades for a client base ranging from Fund Administrators to Multi-Currency Distressed Debt Hedge Funds. Michael holds a BA in Economics from the State University of New York at Albany.
Chief Operating Officer
David Smithers is the Chief Operating Officer at HBMJ and has over 12 years expertise within the financial services industry. At HBMJ David is responsible for all technical aspects of our service delivery to clients. He was previously with UBS for 10 years serving in number of different capacities at offices in London, Hong Kong, Cayman Islands and New York. David was the Chief Technology Officer for the Hedge Fund Services division within UBS for the last 8 years.
David was also a member of the management committee responsible for running the business on a global basis. David worked extensively with the UBS Prime Services team on joint technology projects to provide turn-key solutions to some of the largest most complex multi-strategy Hedge Funds.
David has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Brighton, England, in addition to a number of technical certifications.
